Claydite

  • Normal round aR 0–4 (650 kg/m3)
  • Normal round aR 4–10 (430 kg/m3)
  • Normal round aR 8–16 (340 kg/m3)

Claydite is a lightweight porous building material obtained by baking the low-melting clay, heating it up to 1050 – 1300°C temperature. (In rotating furnace installation at temperature about 1200°C the organic components of clay burn down while its outside surface melts). Appearance of claydite reminds gravel, being in the form of granules having mostly oval or round shape and various size, therefore it is often called claydite gravel.

Claydite applications

  • Thermal insulation of flat and unequal pitch roofs
  • Thermal insulation and sound proofing of interfloor slabs
  • Weight compensation of carrying walls
  • Removal and replacement of soft ground in construction
  • Ground insulation
  • Manufacture of light concrete
  • Leveling of various horizontal surfaces
  • Installation of floating floors
  • Greenerization of roofs
  • Agriculture, horticulture

Properties of claydite

  • Light weight (approx. 3 to 4 times lighter than sand)
  • Natural material (source material is clay)
  • Heat insulating
  • Noise absorbing
  • Chemically harmless
  • Nonflammable
  • Frost resistant, dampproof and fire resistant
  • Mechanically durable
  • Resistant to chemical effect
  • Excellent material for drainage
  • Recyclable
  • Easy to built in
  • Adverse environment for rodents and other vermin
